God is moving people across the globe according to His purpose. He is bringing the world into our backyard creating a marvelous multi-ethnic melting pot. Every Sunday, curious visitors from all nations walk into our churches. The challenge is: How do we communicate effectively across cultures? How can we worship God together in culturally relevant ways?
Hurstville Presbyterian Church will partner with InterServe’s Australian outreach ministry “CultureConnect” to run a series of monthly talks on cross-cultural communication, aiming to equip you to meet the challenge.

Speakers:

Andrew Schachtel
Andrew has worked in several countries in Asia and the Mediterranean with Interserve. Building on his own cross-cultural experience, he now directs CultureConnect, a ministry of Interserve Australia which aims to assist the Australian church in reaching out to their global neighbours with the gospel.
Allan Mao
Allan was born and raised in Shanghai. He went to America to study a Masters of Science and worked in Denver. More significantly, this is where he surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus. Ten years ago he migrated to Australia joining his family in Sydney. Allan completed theological studies at Sydney Missionary and Bible College followed by the Presbyterian Theological Centre. He currently serves at Hurstville Presbyterian Church reaching out to many migrants in the area.
Tim & Val Nicholson
Tim works at Sydney University.  He is from a family with strong missionary involvement and has been on Short Term Mission. Val served with Interserve in India and Nepal for many years.  We are involved in hospitality and cross cultural friendships.
John Gill
John’s first overseas mission experience was to East Asia in 1999. Since then he’s been back there many times and recently spent a year there with his wife Regine studying language and reaching out to uni students. In a long term, John and Regine plan to work amongst semiliterate farmers in a very unreached area. Their interests include music and using Biblical Story telling to advance God’s Kingdom.
Mike Wilson
Mike is the Cross-Cultural Ministry Coordinator for the Presbyterian denomination. He was a missionary in Pakistan, a Muslim country, for seven years. He lectures on various aspects of communicating with people from other cultural and religious backgrounds. He also runs conferences providing training for cross-cultural communication and understanding other religions.
